Things to do – A Lime Cottage Vacation Rental

One of our favourite things to do in Bradenton Beach is to go for a round of mini golf at The Fish Hole on Bridge Street.  This nicely landscaped mini golf course is fun for the whole family (our six year old sometimes wins when the family plays.)  The kids like the koi fish ponds,  the geckos that dash among the plants and the misting stations that keep us cool as we play. Have a 360 virtual view of the course at dusk, which is a totally different experience than during the day.

The Mote Marine Laboratory helps sick and injured animals like these dolphins.

Here are a couple of activities for cloudy days when the beach is not beckoning.  Less than half an hour from the Lime Cottage is the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquariumin Sarasota.  The aquarium offers live animal displays, interactive exhibits and touching pools.  A second building across the street displays rescued and resident manatees, dolphins and sea turtles.

John and Mabel Ringling lived in this grand mansion called Ca d’Zan. It overlooks Sarasota Bay.

The Ringling Museumin Sarasota is actually a number of attractions in one.  Originally the estate of the founder of Ringling Brothers Circus, John Ringling and his wife Mabel, the property is now open to the public.  One building houses the Circus Museum which celebrates the history of circuses.  The Museum of Art showcases John Ringling’s private collection of art including masterpieces from Rubens, van Dyck, Velázquez, Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese, El Greco and Gainsborough as well as a cast of Michelangelo’s David in the garden.  Ca d’Zan is the 56 room grand mansion that John and Mabel Ringling lived in on Sarasota Bay.  The property’s gardens are magical including the Dwarf Garden, the Rose Garden and the colorful Secret Garden.  There is something for everyone to enjoy at the Ringling Museum.

The Village of the Arts in Bradenton is a community of artists living and working together.  The best time to visit is on the first Friday and Saturday of the month when the popular artwalks happen.  Most individual galleries are open on Friday and Saturdays.  This is the place to come for original art, jewelry, ceramics and more.
