Dining on Anna Maria Island – A Lime Cottage Vacation Rental

A Lime Cottage is located a short drive from the Publix supermarket in Holmes Beach and the kitchen is equipped with everything you’ll need to make meals. That said, you’re on holiday so who wants to cook? There are lots of dining options on Anna Maria Island.

Local flavour:

Have great view of the sunset while waiting for your table at the Rod and Reel.

  • The Rod and Reel is one of our favorite spots. Located on the Rod and Reel pier in Anna Maria, you can enjoy the view of Tampa Bay and the Sunshine Skyway bridge or watch people fishing from the pier as you eat your meal. It’s not fancy, only seats about 20 inside and a few more outside, but the service is friendly and the food is good so there's often a line up. You can check the lineup before you go on this terrific HD webcam. There is a small bar on the pier level that serves food and drink as well.
  • The Sandbar in Anna Maria and the Beachhouse in Bradenton Beach are two beachfront restaurants that offer live entertainment, outdoor dining and great views of the spectacular Anna Maria Island sunsets. Although these restaurants have a larger seating capacity, they can get quite busy Thursday through Saturday.
  • Banana Cabana in Bradenton Beach is a small restaurant with great Jamaican food.

  • We’ve often enjoyed breakfast at the Rod and Reel in Anna Maria– eggs, pancakes, etc.

  • Another very popular breakfast place is Café on the Beach on the Manatee County Beach in Holmes Beach where the kids have all-you-can-eat Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes and we have corned beef hash and eggs. There has been a recent change in management of Café on the Beach - we can’t vouch for it without Tom .

  • Enjoy authentic French style crepes at the Island Creperie.

  • The Island Creperie on Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach is an excellent breakfast option offering a variety of crepes and breakfast dishes.
  • Ginny and Jane E’s at the Old IGA in Anna Maria is a bakery restaurant and antiques/souvenir shop all in one.
If you’re willing to drive:
  • With a number of restaurants to choose from, St Armand’s Circle in Lido Key is a good place to head for a meal out. On St Armand’s Circle you'll find the renowned Columbia Restaurant. The original Columbia in Tampa was opened in 1905 and is the oldest restaurant in Florida. The food is traditional Spanish and Cuban fare. Highlights include warm, crusty Cuban bread, the “1905” chopped salad that is mixed at the table and bean soup with bits of chorizo. Seafood, pork and rice dishes are savoury. And the sangria is delicious. During the day, sit on the patio to enjoy some fabulous people-watching.
  • The Bonefish Grill in Bradenton is another of our favorite spots. Although a chain, we find the food and service to be excellent.
